I was wondering if anyone can tell me how I get started with a fundraiser. I have 2 interested groups in hosting a fundraiser and I can't seem to figure out how I order the packets etc. Thanks to everyone who posted great information here. I did find that very useful; but just have a few more questions. Also, if an individual does a fundraiser to pay for cheerleading etc. would they then have to claim that on their taxes at the end of the year or how does that work? My daughter takes dance and that gets to be very costly and thought perhaps I would do my own fundraiser for that. Thanks for any and all information you can share with me.

First of all, there are no fundraiser "packets" that you can order from TW. The term 'packets' is just used loosely around this board as meaning the collection of information (forms, letters, brochures, etc.) that a consultant provides to a (potential) fundraiser entity to give them the *brass tacks* of how the fundraiser works and how they can benefit from it. As Shelly Hill stated to you in a previous message:
"Most of it (contents of her "packet") I got from our my.tupperware website offices under their Fundraiser info such as the Contact Sheet/Intro Letter and other things and the rest I drafted up myself.
Adding additional forms, brochures, etc., helps to customize each of your fundraisers for the potential client. You will "learn" to do a lot of this with time and experience. The forms you will need to start off with are the forms TW provides you as a sales aid and they are:

http://www.burpit.com/images/attach/pdf.gifGoal Letter (http://www.burpit.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32)
http://www.burpit.com/images/attach/pdf.gifParticipant Letter (http://www.burpit.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=33)
http://www.burpit.com/images/attach/pdf.gifThank you Letter (http://www.burpit.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=34)
You would also provide them a copy of the Fundraiser "catalog" so that they can SEE what type of quality TW products will be offered to fundraiser customers.
I personally don't see a problem with your doing a *personal* fundraiser. And I wouldn't worry about tax implications - because I don't think the *numbers* (sales results) should warrant any concern. However, if it would make you feel warm and fuzzy, you could always query a tax professional about it just to make absolutely sure.
